About this recording
Dyslexia is often introduced through a list of difficulties. Reading. Spelling. Writing. Memory. Processing. Organisation.
Those things can matter. But they do not tell you what it actually feels like to live, learn and work as a dyslexic person.
In this live webinar, Arran Smith will explore dyslexia through his own experience as a severely dyslexic adult, alongside what he has learned from working across neurodiversity, education and business.
We will look at dyslexia from three different perspectives:
- Education: How do we move beyond identifying what a learner finds difficult and start understanding the person, their strengths, their environment and the support they need?
- Business: What changes when organisations understand neurodiversity rather than simply reacting when someone struggles?
- Life: How can understanding your own dyslexia change the way you see yourself, the choices you make and the strategies you use?
This is also the launch of See Differently. A Visionary Studio. A new approach built around understanding, challenging assumptions, exploring possibilities and turning that understanding into practical change.
The question running through the session is simple: what becomes possible when we understand the person before we try to change the problem?

What dyslexia really means

Dyslexia from the inside
Arran will share elements of his own experience as a severely dyslexic adult and how understanding has changed throughout his life.
Understanding dyslexia in Education

Understanding dyslexia in Life

Founder & Chief Vision Officer, See Differently
Arran brings together more than 20 years of experience across neurodiversity, education, business, technology and inclusion, alongside his own lived experience of neurodiversity.
I have lived with severe dyslexia all my life. I know what it is like when people see the difficulties before they see you. Through my own experiences and my work across education, neurodiversity and business, I have become increasingly interested in what changes when we start with understanding. That thinking is at the heart of See Differently., and this webinar is where I want to start that conversation.
